“I like to work outside in the landscape and collect images in sketchbooks and colour studies to help me work on ideas in the studio. Return trips are often required to complete works. Water, landscape, buildings and the human impact: these are themes I often return to in my work.
Following visits to Dartmoor with my sketchbooks I have enjoyed abstracting the landscape. The river Teign plays an important part in some of my recent paintings including buildings and street scenes. Many of the original shops within Teignmouth and other towns in Devon are featured in my most recent paintings, mainly including Pubs and Cafes!”
