Originally from the Midlands, Keith Bowcock made Devon his home in 1983 and quickly developed a deep appreciation for its spectacular landscapes and coastline. Having lived in the South Hams, Teignmouth and now Torquay, he has spent decades exploring the region, finding inspiration in its ever-changing skies, coastal views and rich wildlife. These experiences continue to shape his artwork, giving every painting an authentic sense of place.
Although painting had long been a personal passion, it was after retiring from a successful career in interior design that Keith was able to dedicate himself fully to his art. Since then, he has refined his distinctive style, producing original paintings that combine technical skill with a genuine love of the landscapes and seascapes that surround him.
Keith's keen eye for observation is one of the defining qualities of his work. His lifelong interests in ornithology, walking, photography and the natural world have taught him to notice the subtle details that many people overlook. Whether painting the soft reflections across a Devon estuary, the rugged textures of a coastal cliff or the warm light falling across the countryside, he creates artwork that feels both realistic and full of atmosphere.
His paintings are particularly admired for their careful composition, rich colour and beautiful use of light. While he enjoys working in watercolour and acrylic, it is oil painting that allows him to create the depth, texture and warmth that have become hallmarks of his work. More recently, Keith has also developed a passion for portraiture, bringing the same thoughtful observation and attention to detail to every subject he paints.
As a member of both the Torbay Guild of Artists and the Teignmouth Art Society, Keith has exhibited widely across Devon and has earned a reputation for producing artwork that reflects both the beauty of the South West and his genuine affection for the places he paints.
