One of the things that makes Trish's work particularly distinctive is her fascination with light and changing weather.

Rather than always choosing a bright, sunny coastal scene, Trish is often drawn to the moments when the weather becomes more dramatic – when sunlight breaks through clouds, shadows fall across the landscape or the sea takes on a completely different mood.

As Trish puts it:

“I rarely paint simply bright sunny days – I find more interesting contrast in light and shade when the weather is inclement, or when the sun is fighting to get through cloud!”

It is an approach that will feel instantly familiar to anyone who knows the Devon coast. The same stretch of coastline can look completely different depending on the weather, the time of day and the changing light.

Living in Devon gives Trish an almost endless supply of inspiration.

Trish's artistic interests extend beyond landscapes and seascapes.

She has a particular passion for portrait and life painting, continuing to attend workshops to develop her skills and explore people, form, expression and light.

Trish also accepts pet portrait commissions, creating personal paintings of much-loved dogs, cats and other pets.

Trish's work has received recognition in exhibitions and competitions, including the Albert Smith Award for Marine Painting, the Alan Cotton President's Choice Award, the Visitors' Choice Award and awards for portrait and figure painting.

Her most recent achievement came in Spring 2026, when she won the Marjorie Matthews Award for Portrait/Figure.
