Clare is interested in the history of Still Life and was inspired by 17th century Dutch oil paintings with their dark backgrounds.  In ‘Winter Squash’ Clare shows her appreciation of the beauty of our changing seasons through natural objects.  The decorative nature of the squash with their patterns and colours really appealed to her, she says, so much so that they each seem to have their own personality.
